Can royal titles tell the story of their holders?

While diplomatic scholarship has traditionally viewed intitulationes as formulaic and repetitive clauses, the queenly titles of Elizabeth of Luxembourg reveal a much richer narrative. They trace the rise, ambitions, and gradual decline of the power of the last princess and queen of the House of Luxembourg. At the same time, they offer a new perspective on queenly authority by highlighting how documentary practices could serve as a medium for expressing and negotiating power.
